What is the format of the race?
The Ocmulgee Adventure Race (OAR)will accept solo, two and three person teams, coed, all female, and all male. The elite category for the race is three person co-ed. Three person co-ed teams will be eligible for cash prizes. However all competitors will be eligible for trophies.

What is the percentage breakdown of race legs?
The OAR will have the following APPROXIMATE breakdown:

Race in Total approximately 25 miles.

Mountain Biking (~40% of total distance)
Trekking (~30% of total distance)
Paddling (~30% of total distance)
River Swimming (short swim)

Where does the 2007 GOAR start?
The 2007 GOAR start location be Central City Parl in Downtown Macon.

Do I have to bring my own boat?
Yes. Elite teams are required to paddle a single canoe. All other categories can paddle what they wish.

Is there a minimum age requirement? Participants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.

What will the events be like?
Paddling on the Ocmulgee River. The river swim will be in the Ocmulgee River and very short. Life Jackets are required while paddling and river swimming. The trekking portion will be on trails, paved and dirt roads including some bushwhacking (maybe in the swamp!). Biking will be on paved and dirt roads and trails. Navigation skills will be a big asset for your team but orienteering skills are not need to finish this race. There will be an optional orienteering section during the race.

What is the typical weather in July in Middle Georgia?
The average high in the region the race is 90 degrees. The average low is around 67. July is HOT! Fluid replacement is the key to thwarting dehydration problems and heat stroke issues. Rain is always a possibility.

Do all teams have to be co-ed?
No. You are welcome to race as either coed, all male, or an all female team. However, only co-ed teams of three are eligible for cash prizes.

What certifications do I need for the 2007 GOAR?
The OAR does not require any certifications.

Will the 2007 GOAR have a masters division?
At this time he 2007 GOAR does not plan to have a master's division.
