Introduction: These rules are written to ensure the safety and integrity of the Ocmulgee Adventure Race. The rules are enforced by Ocmulgee Adventure Race staff and volunteers. Any protests can be made to the race director by a member of the race team after completion of the race. All decisions by the race director are final.

Mandatory Gear Check: All mandatory gear must be approved at registration by race organizers. To begin the race, all members of the team must return a completed mandatory gear checklist to race staff. Mandatory gear will be checked at some point during the race.

Boat Information: For a team to qualify for the elite category all three team members must travel in a CANOE. All other teams may travel in whichever type of boat will get your team from the start of the paddle to the finish.

TEAMS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN BOATS.

More Rules: Teams may continue if one person withdraws, upon race official approval. The remaining competitors must carry full team mandatory gear. Voluntary withdrawals must occur at transition areas. However, members of a team may not continue alone. This means that if you are a two person team and your teammate withdraws, you may not continue alone.

There are various time cutoffs for the race. If a team does not reach a designated cutoff point in time, there will be an alternate course provided. There will be an absolute cutoff time as well, where a team may not continue and will be picked up by their support crew.

Teams are permitted to help each other during the race. Teams may be awarded a time bonus for helping other teams in need.

From time to time there will be a prescribed course described in the directions. Where designated, teams must follow this course. At all other points it is up to the team to decide navigation from CP to CP.

The cash winners shall be determined as the fastest mixed gender complete team of three to complete the course after any penalties have been added. Teams will be of three competitors, either mixed gender, male, or female. Cash prizes will be awarded to 3 person, mixed gender teams only. Trophies will be awarded to all other categories based on finishing order.
